Nollywood veteran actor Kanayo O. Kanayo has stirred conversation on social media with his recent comments about a concerning trend he believes is undermining familial responsibilities.
In a video making rounds online, he expressed his disapproval of men who rely on their partners for financial support, calling it “useless and dangerous.”
“I woke up to a trend that I found disturbing,” Kanayo stated. “It is useless and dangerous—a man depends on a man to feed him.”

He emphasized that while some women might defend their husbands to protect the privacy of their homes, such defences can inadvertently hinder a man’s growth and responsibility.
Kanayo stressed the biblical principle that every man must support his family, saying, “A man who does not provide for his family is worse than…”
He issued a stern warning to young women, advising them to choose their partners wisely. “Know who you marry,” he urged, pointing out the long-term implications of their choices.
“It brings pressure on the woman,” he remarked, elaborating on how a lack of responsibility from men can place undue stress on their spouses, especially when it comes to children’s education and household bills.

He recalled a personal experience with a friend whose indifference to family responsibilities led to visible tension in the relationship, stating, “There is a need for every man to be hardworking.”
