Actor Kanayo O. Kanayo has shared that his understanding of divorce was limited until he moved to Lagos and realized its prevalence.
While speaking on Nedu’s podcast, The Honest Bunch, he reflected on his own marriage and emphasized that it was never his plan to leave his wife, as he was raised to uphold the sanctity of marriage.
He stated that being an Igbo man, he was brought up to remain committed to his marriage until death.
Kanayo expressed his observation that the mindset of young couples in Lagos may contribute to the instability of marriages.
The veteran actor whose real name is Anayo Modestus Onyekwere, appeared on the same show a few weeks ago to reveal how sugar daddies and other influential men play a significant role in the lifestyles of some Nollywood actresses.
In his words, this, in turn, creates a disparity between hardworking men and those who rely on external financial support, making the former appear lazy and out of place.
Kanayo O. Kanayo elaborated on his point by highlighting how female actors in Nollywood often experience rapid financial success and acquire numerous assets, while their male counterparts struggle to make ends meet with the limited income from their work.
He went on to explain that this stark contrast is why many male actors find themselves in dire financial situations, publicly seeking assistance to cover medical expenses, while their female counterparts rarely face such challenges.
