Kwesi Appiah is Going Nowhere – Sudan FA Boss Dismisses Exit Rumours

The President of the Sudanese Football Association, Dr. Moatasem Jaafar, has dismissed speculations about Kwesi Appiah’s future, insisting the Ghanaian coach remains dedicated to leading Sudan’s national team, the Falcons of Jediane.

Speaking in an interview, Dr. Jaafar addressed concerns about Appiah’s absence from the team’s training camp in Saudi Arabia, which had fueled rumours about his possible exit. He clarified that the coach is still under contract and remains committed to his role.

“This talk is not true. Kwasi is committed to his contract with the Sudanese Federation and will attend at the agreed times,” he stated.

One of the main challenges, according to Dr. Jaafar, has been delayed salary payments due to banking complications. However, he reassured that efforts were being made to resolve the issue promptly.

“He has not received his financial dues due to the complications of bank transfers to Ghana, and we are moving forward to solve the problem within the next few hours.”

Despite these financial hiccups, Dr. Jaafar stressed that Sudan’s FA values the stability of its technical team, especially after Kwesi Appiah led the country to historic achievements.

“This will not prevent him from supervising the Falcons of Jediane, and the Federation is more keen on the stability of the technical staff and delivering all its dues, especially after the great achievements it has made by qualifying Sudan for the CAN finals and topping its group in the World Cup qualifiers.”

Dr. Jaafar also emphasized Appiah’s importance to the team, acknowledging the sacrifices he has made for Sudanese football.

“We are in dire need of Kwasi’s presence among us to lead the national team, and we are aware of the sacrifices he has made for the team, and we will do everything we can to solve all the problems and fulfil his demands.”

Kwesi Appiah, the former Black Stars head coach, has been instrumental in Sudan’s recent success, guiding them to the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals and positioning them strongly in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

His absence from the training camp in Saudi Arabia raised eyebrows, but with the Sudan FA addressing his concerns, it appears the coach will continue to lead the Falcons in their quest for further success.
