Retired Ghanaian boxer and entertainer, Bukom Banku, born Braimah Kamoko, has revealed that although he has not yet built a house, he possesses several other valuable assets.
These include seven cars and parcels of land located in Accra, Kasoa, and the Eastern Region of Ghana. While he did not provide a specific reason for not building his own house, he mentioned that his son, Abu Kamako, may build one for him in the future.
Furthermore, Bukom Banku emphasized that he is a responsible father who diligently takes care of his children using his earnings. He said this when he spoke to Nana Ama Mcbrown on Onua TV in an interview;
“I have seven cars to drive me around Ga Mashie, but I don’t have a house. I only have lands. But I use my earnings to take care of my children. Maybe he (points to his son Abu Kamoko) can build me a house, but personally I don’t own a house. I have lands in Ga Mashie and Kasoa. The ones in the Eastern region, I can’t even count them.”
Bukom Banku gained prominence in 1999 when he secured a bronze medal at the All-Africa Games held in Johannesburg, South Africa. Throughout his career spanning over two decades, he held the WBO Africa Light Heavyweight and WBO Africa Cruiserweight titles.
In 2023, he officially announced his retirement from boxing, saying;
“I’m now grown and at the same time my eye is also paining me, so I don’t want to fight again,” Bukom Banku stated in an interview with Okay FM.
“I have three children and my children are also fighting boxing, so I leave everything to them. I leave my gloves to Abu Kamoko and Mustapha Kamoko to fight on.
“I’ve already prepared the road so they can continue my name. Where I couldn’t reach in boxing, maybe they can reach there. So officially I’ve quit boxing.”
