Renowned sports journalist Saddick Adams, popularly known as Sports Obama, has expressed his satisfaction with the recent improvements made at the Accra Sports Stadium.
In a statement shared on X, the veteran journalist praised the efforts that have gone into upgrading the facility, acknowledging the importance of the pressure that had been exerted to address the deteriorating condition of the stadium.
“Very impressed with the work that has gone on at the Accra Stadium. We did not need to get to where we got, and the pressure was necessary,” Sports Obama remarked.
The state of the Accra Sports Stadium had previously drawn criticism, with many stakeholders calling for urgent intervention to ensure that the pitch and infrastructure met international standards.
Adams also lauded the interim Director-General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Seth Panwum, for his firm stance on protecting the newly refurbished pitch from damage.
According to Panwum, the stadium’s pitch will no longer be used for non-sporting events unless proper protective measures are in place. Adams welcomed this decision, emphasizing the need to safeguard the playing surface for future sporting events.
“Also happy at the tone of the Ag-DG of NSA, Seth Panwum, who insists the stadium pitch will no longer be used for events unless there’s a protective cover,” Adams stated.

In addition to his remarks on the Accra Sports Stadium, Adams revealed his awareness of ongoing works at other major stadiums in Ghana, including the Tamale, Baba Yara, and Takoradi stadiums.
These venues are also undergoing maintenance and improvement efforts ahead of key sporting fixtures. Adams expressed his optimism that the pitches would be in top condition for Ghana’s upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Sudan.
“Ghana v Sudan on Thursday—I hope the pitch turns out well,” he said, expressing hope that the upgrades at the various stadiums would ensure a smooth and competitive match.
Saddick Adams has long been an advocate for better sports infrastructure in Ghana, frequently using his platform to draw attention to the needs and challenges facing the country’s sports facilities.
With the improvements at the Accra Sports Stadium and other venues underway, many Ghanaians share Adams’ hopes for better-maintained pitches, not just for football but for the long-term sustainability of sports in the country.
