In a sober moment at the Ignite Youth Empowerment Thanksgiving Service, media personality Serwaa Amihere shared powerful advice with young people, particularly university students, about the weight of decisions made in youth.
Speaking to the audience, Serwaa’s message was clear—your choices matter more than you might think, and they have the potential to impact your future in ways you can’t always foresee.
“You need to be extremely careful of the choices you make today,” she began. “I was going to tell you this last year, and I didn’t say it.
“But then I’ll be doing you a lot of disservice if I don’t say it this year. So let me repeat it, that there are so many young ones here. You are mostly in the university.

“So please, be extremely careful and picky of the decisions you make while you’re young. I’m not old. I’m still young, but I’m older than many of you here.
“And I am repeating again that be extremely careful about the decisions you make because… Six, seven, five, three, two years later, they’ll come back and bite you really hard in the face. And that is what happened to me last year.”
Her words hung in the air as the audience absorbed the seriousness of her message. Serwaa’s tone was not just one of caution but of lived experience—her own mistakes and reflections serving as a lesson for others.
She continued, sharing her story of the previous year’s challenges, a difficult reminder of how past decisions can resurface and impact your life.
“That is what happened to me last year,” she reiterated, urging the younger generation to think ahead and carefully consider their paths.
