The Ghana Police Service has officially debunked rumours surrounding the alleged arrest of popular GHOne newscaster, Serwaa Amihere.
On October 15, 2024, social media and other entertainment news in Ghana platforms erupted after a photo of Serwaa in handcuffs, being escorted by armed police officers, began circulating online.
The image sparked widespread speculation, with some netizens assuming the worst and others suggesting it might be part of a publicity stunt or a music video shoot.
In response to the growing confusion, the Ghana Police Service issued a press statement, categorically denying Serwaa’s arrest.
The police clarified, “The Ghana Police Service has not arrested Serwaa Amihere. Our investigation indicates that the picture circulating online is from a music video.”
The statement further urged the public to “disregard this misinformation and disinformation,” assuring citizens that the viral image had no connection to any real-life police action involving the broadcaster.
