Renowned music producer Fred Kyei Mensah, popularly known as Uncle Fredima, has issued a cautionary message to musicians about the potential risks involved when aligning with political parties.

In a recent interview with Property FM, he highlighted the importance of strategy for musicians who publicly declare their political affiliations, emphasizing that a poorly calculated move could spell the end of their careers.

“As a musician, during these moments after declaring your stance with a political party, if you are not strategic enough, your career will die off,” Uncle Fred warned, urging artists to carefully navigate the political terrain.

He referenced gospel musician Nacee as an example of someone who has managed to stay relevant in the music industry despite his political affiliations. “Someone like Nacee is still relevant due to how strategic he was,” Fredima pointed out, underscoring that success in such situations requires foresight and a clear plan.

According to Fredima, politics and music can intersect as a “political game,” where timing and strategy are crucial. He advised musicians to take advantage of political opportunities, particularly during election cycles when political parties are more likely to offer financial incentives to artists who support them.

“If you are politically inclined, this is the time as an artist to cash out and make use of the money because these opportunities come once in four years,” he explained.

However, he also warned that after elections, the attention of politicians typically fades, leaving artists on their own. “After the elections, these politicians won’t remember you,” Uncle Fred remarked, stressing that musicians should approach such opportunities with a business mindset and not rely on long-term support from politicians.
