Baba Sadiq has opened up about his ongoing rift with celebrated dancehall artist Stonebwoy, shedding light on the underlying issues between the two.
Contrary to any misconceptions, Sadiq made it clear that his dispute with Stonebwoy is not rooted in hatred but stems from a difference of opinion and Stonebwoy’s reaction to it.
“I don’t have a problem with him personally,” Sadiq stated. “My problem, which I’ve already told Stonebwoy over the phone, is simple.

“We’re both opinionated people, and that’s okay. But there needs to be tolerance. There’s nothing wrong with me expressing my opinion that I preferred King Promise to win the Artiste of the Year award. It’s just my perspective.”
For Sadiq, the conflict started when he shared his views on who should have taken home the prestigious Artiste of the Year title, a category Stonebwoy was in the running for.
His choice of King Promise, he says, should not have sparked controversy. But Stonebwoy’s reaction, which included reaching out to Sadiq’s wife, crossed a line for the outspoken media personality.
Sadiq’s frustration is not about the disagreement itself but the way Stonebwoy handled it. “You can’t just call my wife because I expressed an opinion.
“It’s not like I said something out of hate or disrespect. I just shared my view. It’s about tolerance,” Sadiq explained, clearly irritated by what he saw as an overreach from Stonebwoy.
He referenced past instances where the artist allegedly tried to “shut down” other media personalities, like MzGee, and implied that Stonebwoy thought he could do the same to him.
Sadiq, however, insisted he wouldn’t be silenced. “You think the things you did to MzGee and co, you can do that to me? No. You can’t shut me up, particularly when I’m right.”
When the disagreement first surfaced, there were claims that Sadiq was fabricating the story of Stonebwoy calling his wife. However, Stonebwoy himself later admitted to making the call during a radio interview, further validating Sadiq’s side of the story.

Sadiq expressed disappointment, not only with Stonebwoy’s actions but also with how people dismissed his truth initially. “When I said he called my wife, people said I was lying. But then he went on air and confirmed it.”
Despite their public clash, Sadiq was quick to clarify that this disagreement doesn’t erase the support he has shown Stonebwoy throughout his career. “It doesn’t mean I hate him or anything,” he said. “We’ve done a lot to protect and project Stonebwoy in this country, and to elevate him.”
