Arsenal star Eddie Nketiah has explained why he passed up Ghana for England.

The 24-year-old has conducted discussions with the Ghana Football Association regarding a potential national move and is qualified to play for both nations. The London-born player eventually chose to play for the former world champions after accepting his initial invitation from England manager Gareth Southgate.

Nketiah was included in the team list given by England manager Gareth Southgate for the matches against Scotland and Ukraine in September.

Explaining his decision to switch allegiance to the Three Lions during England’s pre-match presser. Here’s what he said;

I think both sides were the options. Naturally, coming through the academy in England, I’ve got aspirations to play here. Like I said, once the call up was there and the offer on the table, it’s hard to turn down.

It was something I felt was a natural progression for me and I felt now was the good time for me to make that step and I am very happy to be here.
