The girl claimed he prevented her from using social media after she told him she was pregnant with his child. According to Ghafla, the media outlet that first broke the story, his wife left him because she could not stand his promiscuous life. Infidelity rumours led to their split in 2021.

The Kenyan comedian, who is popularly known as Otoyo Cleopas Awinja, aka Captain Otoyo, is a divorcee.
Regarding his relationship with TV lady Mashirima and his parenthood, Otoyo stated that he prefers to remain mute on the topics of his relationship with TV lady Mashirima and parenthood because “They will speak for themselves,” adding, “I choose not to discuss these things.”
It was once speculated that Otoyo and Mashirima were dating, but when a fan asked the host if she was married or dating Captain Otoyo, she emphatically denied the rumours.
However, the comedian and radio host finally came clean about their relationship in 2014, when he posted a photo of her with the caption, “A friend of my heart.” They are said to have a son together, who is now eight years old, but neither has addressed the rumour.
