Ghanaian journalist Afia Pokua has addressed the controversy surrounding her recent visit to Manhyia Palace, where she was reportedly accused of disrespecting the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
The allegations, made on Agoo TV a few months ago, caused an uproar, culminating in Afia Pokua being summoned to the palace. However, she has now spoken out about the experience, asserting her faith and resilience in the face of adversity.
Opening up about the issue on Smart Ghana TV, Afia Pokua made it clear that the words spoken at Manhyia had no power over her life.

“You don’t know me, whether I am a prophetess or a servant of God, you don’t know. Whatever they said only took effect within their boundaries,” she explained.
She went on to say that once she left the palace and began her journey, the alleged curse or condemnation lost its influence. “The moment I left Manhyia and got into a car on my way to my destination, it had no power,” Afia Pokua said, her voice firm and resolute.
The journalist emphasized her spiritual strength, revealing that she prayed during the entire journey. “And do you think I didn’t pray on my way?
“My spiritual father is Prophet Boahen Uche,” she added, referencing the respected Ghanaian prophet who guides her in matters of faith. For Afia Pokua, her belief in God and the power of prayer superseded any spoken word or threat.
Despite the tense situation at Manhyia, where she was reportedly asked to leave and endure the curse, Afia Pokua assured her followers that the matter had already been spiritually overturned.
“Whatever they said at Manhyia was just words; we’ve already overturned it,” she said. “Even if no one else did, I’ve prayed against it. During the time they told me to go away with the curse, you could see I was kneeling and praying.”
Afia Pokua continued by declaring her unshakable belief in God’s sovereignty, stating, “I serve a living God, and there is no God after Him.”
She expressed complete trust in God’s plan for her life, despite the threats or challenges she might face. “If God allows them to kill me at my age, that’s His will. If my ancestors allow it, it’s up to them. But I am not cursed; I am a mystery child,” she boldly declared.
