Coach Otto Addo reflected on his team’s performance following a frustrating draw against Sudan, emphasizing the need for improvement in their finishing. Despite dominating much of the game, his side was unable to convert their chances into goals, leaving them with only a point.
“Every team poses a threat, and Sudan defended well today, particularly their goalkeeper. But if we had been a bit more clinical with our opportunities, we would have taken the win,” Addo acknowledged.
Addo expressed confidence in his team’s overall performance, believing that they had the upper hand throughout the game. “I believe we were the better side. We created many chances, but we lacked the finishing touch.
“Sudan’s goalkeeper did well, but apart from the point they secured, I can’t say they had an outstanding performance.” His remarks suggest that while Sudan’s defence was solid, his team should have capitalized on their opportunities.
Looking ahead, Addo was clear about what needs to be done to move forward: “We need to work on winning matches, and that’s our focus now. We must win the next game to stay in contention.” As the team prepares for their second match against Sudan, this time in Libya, Addo’s focus is firmly on securing the much-needed victory.
With the pressure mounting, the upcoming game is crucial for Addo’s squad if they hope to stay competitive in the tournament. The coach’s candid assessment shows a determination to fine-tune their strategy and make the most of the chances they create on the field.
