Musician and activist Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, has expressed his confidence in Ghana’s Electoral Commission (EC) to conduct free and fair elections.
Speaking on UTV’s United Showbiz, A Plus reassured voters that the EC’s processes have been transparent and inclusive, addressing widespread concerns about potential election malpractice.
“We should not be paranoid; we should believe in the EC that everything will be free and fair,” A Plus stated. “I don’t believe that the whole electoral commission will set out to rig the elections.”
A Plus highlighted the EC’s efforts to engage stakeholders, including independent candidates, throughout the election process.

“The process has been fair. Anything they give the political parties, if we write to them, they give us. We have been walked through the process as independent candidates, from the printing of ballot papers to the transportation of the papers to the various constituencies,” he added, reflecting his personal experience as a participant in Ghana’s democratic process.
In addition to his praise for the EC, A Plus issued a stern warning to those planning to disrupt the elections or use intimidation tactics, regardless of their political affiliations or positions of power.
“Dr. Dampare will arrest anyone who goes in contravention of the law. He will not spare anyone,” he emphasized, referring to Ghana’s Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare.
A Plus underscored the impartiality of the law, even in his case. “Even me, who is very close to him, he will not hesitate to get me arrested, so you should be very careful on election day so that you don’t get yourself arrested.”
