Ghana’s oldest cub, Accra Hearts of Oak is set to build a 20,000-capacity stadium, according to sources.

Togbe Afede XIV, the chairman of the club’s board, indicated in an interview that preparations are being made to guarantee the team obtains its own stadium.

The facility will have an artificial pitch that is standard size, four fields of grass naturally, a sizable swimming pool as well as other sporting amenities including a tennis court, a sizable golf course, a fountain, and accommodations for hostels.

“We identified the need to build up infrastructure, to help us achieve our objectives,” Togbe Afede XIV said, as quoted by Citi Sports.

“It is also one of the minimum requirements to enter the African super League, Our academy is very important, and our own stadium is very important.” the Hearts board chairman Togbe Afede said during the commissioning of its Ultra Modern Commercial Center.

Meanwhile, the team have moved to its new training facility at Pobiman.

Acra Hearts of Oak club was established in Accra on November 11, 1911. Sir Gordon Guggisberg, the then-Gov. of the Gold Coast, formed the Accra Football League in 1922, the same year that Hearts of Oak won their first significant game.

In this league, Hearts had six winning seasons in a row. The team also triumphed in the 1953–1954 Gold Coast Club Competition, the colonial equivalent of the Ghana Premier League. Hearts began competing in the Ghanaian Football League in 1956 and have since enjoyed great success.
