In a concerning turn of events, Ghanaian defender Abdul Baba Rahman collapsed during a crucial semi-final clash in the Greek Cup on Wednesday evening.

The incident unfolded as Rahman, playing as a left-back, collided with an opponent during the intense fixture between Panathinaikos and PAOK.

An aerial duel turned unfortunate when an opposing player inadvertently struck Rahman’s head, resulting in the loss of consciousness for the Ghanaian athlete.

The distressing moment occurred in the 115th minute of the match, which had already extended into extra time following a 2-2 deadlock in regular play.

Prompt medical attention was swiftly administered to Rahman on the field, eventually leading to his regaining consciousness.

Nevertheless, as a precautionary measure, he was promptly transferred from the pitch via ambulance to undergo further evaluation and care at the hospital.

The match experienced a brief pause due to the unsettling incident, with the referee eventually calling an end to the game, which progressed to a penalty shootout.

In a dramatic turn of events, Panathinaikos emerged victorious in the shootout, clinching a 6-5 win and securing their coveted spot in the Greek Cup final.

Meanwhile, the defender has since taken to his social media page to give an update on his recovery.

While expressing gratitude for concerns shared following the incident, the defender announed that he suffered no major defects from the incident.
