Video Of Napoli Comparing Victor Osimhen To ‘Coconut’ Surfaces

After an alleged video from the Napoli club’s Tiktok account allegedly compared the Nigerian international to a “coconut,” which is perceived as a racist slur, the relationship between Victor Osimhen and Napoli has deteriorated.

The striker missed a penalty in Napoli’s 0-0 Serie A match with Bologna over the weekend. An earlier clip focused on his missed penalty during Sunday’s scoreless draw with Bologna. The 24-year-old was seen pleading for a penalty before sending the spot-kick wide of the goal post while a bizarre sped-up voice could be heard saying, “Gimme penalty please.”

In the meantime, Osimhen has removed from his social media accounts any pictures and videos in which he is wearing a Napoli shirt. In addition, he deleted the club’s name from his online resume.

Osimhen, who is incensed by the development, has through his agents hinted at taking legal action against Napoli for the insulting act. The 24-year-old striker was in the process of discussing a contract extension with Napoli because his current term expires in June 2025.

He was a target for English rivals Chelsea and Manchester United during the summer transfer window. He was acquired by Napoli from Lille in 2021 for a club-record cost of €70 million.

The Nigerian striker who has scored 62 goals in 107 appearances for the Serie A side, fired Napoli to a first league title in over 30 years last season.
