They Said He Would Win, But I Proved Them Wrong- Guru

Ghanaian rapper Guru has opened up about his experience with the power of prophecies and the importance of hard work, drawing from a significant moment in his life during the University of Ghana Students’ Representative Council (SRC) elections.

Recalling the event, Guru shared how his opponent’s campaign received a boost from a prophecy that was widely circulated across campus. “My opponent during the University of Ghana SRC election campaign was prophesied on campus, and it trended. They used it to mock me a lot,” he revealed.

The prophecy, made by a respected man of God, claimed that his rival would win the election. For Guru, this prediction became a point of ridicule, with many assuming that the election outcome was already determined by divine intervention.

“They said the man of God prophesied that he’d be the winner of the SRC election and that the Lord would enthrone him,” Guru recalled, adding that the prophecy was taken seriously by his opponent’s supporters. “And today, whenever I wake up in the morning, I post it.”

What stands out, however, is how the narrative shifted in Guru’s favour despite the prophecy.

As the results started rolling in, his opponent’s camp was quick to celebrate prematurely. “At 5:30 pm, they were jubilating that they had won the elections,” Guru said. “But now, I post the video of the prophecy.”

“What God said, He slept on it,” Guru remarked, reflecting on the nature of prophecies. “Because as for the prophecies, they come, and God doesn’t lie. But if you focus on the prophecy alone and don’t work at it, it’ll backslide.”

As Guru shared his story with Amansan Krakye on Property FM, he also touched on the broader role of prophecies in elections and everyday life ahead of the presidential elections in Ghana scheduled for December 7, 2024.
