Ghanaian dancehall star Stonebwoy has once again emphasized the importance of unity in the African music industry, dismissing the idea that competition should overshadow collaboration.
Speaking on AfroVibes in New York monitored by Ghanastreetjournal, he stated, “The more, the merrier. You can only be sick in the head if you think closing doors on others will help. It doesn’t.”
Stonebwoy, known for his cross-border partnerships, highlighted his extensive collaborations with Nigerian artists.

“I’ve collaborated with a lot of Nigerian brothers—Techno, Banky W, Cynthia Morgan, and many others. Some names aren’t even coming to mind now. The music industry thrives on partnerships, and I’ll always support that.”
Back home in Ghana, he urged local artists to support each other. “You have to dance at home before you dance abroad. My name will definitely come up as one of the most collaborative artists within Ghana and beyond,” he remarked.
However, he made a key distinction between musical unity and personal relationships, noting that not every collaboration leads to friendship.
“Uniting musical sounds is different from uniting personalities. Some people will only meet on business, and that’s okay. Others will meet as friends and create business together—it’s normal in every industry.”
