Support Alan And Lose Your Membership- NPP Warns Members

The internal firestorm in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) triggered by the resignation of Alan Kyerematen has taken on a new dimension after the party warned members that anyone who supports the former Trade and Industry Minister risks forfeiture of membership.

According to Henry Nana Boakye, the party’s organizer, this is the case. He said this on Joy FM’s Top Story on September 25, 2023, a Monday. This comes after Alan left the party to run for president in the forthcoming 2024 election as an independent.

“The constitution is quite clear that if you are a party person and you go and support any other candidate apart from our presidential candidate, it means forfeiture of membership,” he said.

“That is what the constitution says,” he added.

Alan Kyeremanten, on Monday, September 25, 2023, announced his resignation from the New Patriotic Party (NPP). He indicated that he needed to leave the political party after years of persecution from the leadership of the party.

Parts of his speech said, “Under the circumstances and given the context provided, I wish to use this platform to announce that I am honourably resigning with immediate effect from the New Patriotic Party to contest for the high office of the President of the Republic of Ghana in the 2024 General Elections, as an Independent Presidential Candidate“.

“To actualise this goal, I will establish and lead a new MOVEMENT FOR CHANGE in Ghana. The brand logo for the MOVEMENT is the Monarch Butterfly, which politically symbolizeschange and transformation, hope, and positivity. It also communicates strength, endurance, spirituality, and trust, which are key traits that I cherish as a Political Leader. In Akan, it is known as Afrafranto. The brand motto of the MOVEMENT is “Ghana Will Rise Again,” which symbolizes hope for the future of Ghana.”

Meanwhile, Alan Kyerematen has slammed Chairman Wontumi for being ungrateful and indulging in shenanigans to undermine him, despite all the help he has offered to him.

While on UTV to answer some pertinent questions in the aftermath of his fallout with the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alan used the opportunity to point out how he literally took Wontumi’s hand and brought him to the NPP, thereby turning his life around as an unknown businessman.

He said this after the interviewer, Maame Yaa Konama Antwi, drew his attention to trending news that Wontumi has asked the NPP faithfuls to remove all Alan Kyeremanten-branded merchandise from all offices of the party in the Ashanti Region.

In a memo he signed, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, aka Chairman Wontumi, requested that all of their branded products be removed from the party’s headquarters. Responding to this, Alan said he is shocked at Wontumi’s behaviour because he’s the one who brought him this far in his political career.

Alan Kyeremanten bragged that he was the reason for that accomplishment since he brought Chairman Wontumi into the NPP fold and was instrumental in his political success.

He recalled how Chairman Wontumi, then a rising businessman, had approached him in 2005 and promised to support his political ambitions; as a result, he helped him become the constituency chairman of Bosumtwi and afterwards the regional chairman of the Ashanti region.
