In a pointed critique of the recent reactions from some Ghanaian celebrities to Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s proposed solutions to the persistent galamsey issue, musician Worlasi has voiced his frustration over what he perceives as empty praise for a lack of tangible action.
His remarks come in light of Bawumia’s speech outlining a practical approach to tackling illegal mining, a longstanding problem that has plagued Ghana’s environment and economy.

Bawumia’s proposal involved a significant step forward: utilizing the Geological Survey Authority to accurately map gold deposits in mining areas.
This initiative aims to bring order to the chaotic mining practices that have often led to environmental degradation and unregulated digging.
In his speech, Bawumia expressed hope that this would enable miners to operate more sustainably, avoiding the pitfalls of indiscriminate mining and its associated consequences.
However, rather than embracing this new direction, Worlasi questioned the enthusiasm expressed by some celebrities on social media, stating, “How well he has done doing what? YOU ARE IN POWER – JUST DO THE THING.”
His challenge to celebrities to stop merely tweeting in support of initiatives and to demand real action from those in power speaks to a growing frustration within the public.

Many citizens have become increasingly disillusioned with political promises that often go unfulfilled. “Why can’t we ever have anyone actually doing something?” Worlasi asked, emphasizing the urgency for leaders to take decisive steps rather than just discussing plans.
