Former Ghanaian midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah has been hailed by FIFA on Twitter for his outstanding assist to Asamoah Gyan during the 2014 World Cup’s 2-1 loss to Portugal in the tournament’s final Group G match.

Fans of the game have watched and enthusiastically shared the assist’s video, which was posted on FIFA’s official Twitter account.

Asamoah showed off his excellent technical skill and vision with his assist, which was a stroke of genius. Gyan was able to easily head in thanks to the wonderfully timed pass.

Ultimately, Ghana lost 2-1 thanks to a goal from Cristiano Ronaldo in the 80th minute. Ghana was eliminated from the competition as a result of the loss, having previously lost to the US and drew 2-2 with Germany.

Kwadwo Asamoah started his professional career in 2008 with Udinese of Italy. His steady work ethic earned him a move to Juventus in 2012, where he used his dynamism, adaptability, and technical prowess to help the club win six straight Serie A championships from 2013 to 2018 in addition to other titles.

However, injuries in his later seasons limited his time at the club. In 2018 he joined Inter Milan, and then in 2021, he joined Cagliari. Asamoah competed for Ghana at four FIFA World Cups and two Africa Cup of Nations competitions.

In addition to being voted Ghana Player of the Year twice in a row in 2012 and 2013, Asamoah received the CAF Most Promising African Player award in 2010.

According to Bloomberg, Asamoah was the world’s 27th-best football player in 2013.
