Sergio Aguero, who recently asserted that Lionel Messi is a better goal scorer than Cristiano Ronaldo, has returned to muddy the waters by criticising the Portuguese superstar for his “pure luck” from free-kicks.
With a staggering 702 goals in Europe, Messi has one more than Al Nassr forward Ronaldo despite playing 105 fewer games. Speaking on Twitch (via Mediotiempo), Aguero lauded Messi, a former teammate from Argentina, for his record of scoring goals and highlighted his method of doing so.
The 34-year-old Manchester City icon, though, did not mince words in his criticism of Ronaldo, claiming that the former United star’s free-kicks are the result of “pure luck.” He is heard saying;
Look where he scores the goal from. Come on. All free-kick goals and pure luck. Messi’s are all at the angle, stupid. But what does [Ronaldo] do? Goalkeeper’s fault. I think Raul has better goals, [Karim] Benzema, I think he has better ones.
Similarly, following his intriguing assertion about a compilation of Cristiano Ronaldo’s greatest goals, Sergio Aguero has sparked a wave of responses online and most fans are not having it.
Social media is convinced beyond reasonable doubt that Aguero’s evaluation of Ronaldo’s best goals of his career means he has a problem with the Portuguese phenomenon.
Aguero, who is close friends with Ronaldo’s rival Lionel Messi, appeared unimpressed as he watched a collection of the Portuguese star’s greatest goals, according to Givemesport.
The former Argentina international, who played for Manchester City and Barcelona, took it a step further by asserting that the impressive goals scored by the Al-Nassr captain were the result of pure luck.
Even more, he claimed that the goalkeeper was to blame for Ronaldo’s 40-yard goal against FC Porto in the Champions League in 2008. Social media users have since been persuaded by Aguero’s remark that he was ‘hating’ the seasoned Portuguese player.
