Saudi Football Federation Responds To Rumors Of £246m Messi Contract To Reunite Him With Cristiano Ronaldo

The Saudi Football Federation has responded to rumors of Lionel Messi joining Cristiano Ronaldo in the Middle East.

Ronaldo secured the richest sports contract with Saudi club Al-Nassr. With Messi yet to sign a new contract at Paris Saint-Germain, Al-Hilal may offer £246 million ($305m) to top his deal.

Saudi Football Federation general secretary Ibrahim Alkassim said he is unaware of such an offer for Messi.

“At the moment we do not know anything about a possible Lionel Messi arrival. Although I do not hide that, as Saudi Federation, we would like to have him one day in the domestic league. The idea of the Federation is always to improve our football, and of course we would like to see Cristiano and Messi in the same league again, but the truth is that we don’t know anything now,” he told Marca.

Cristiano Ronaldo signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr.

After criticizing Manchester United’s hierarchy and management in a Piers Morgan interview, the Portugal captain was released.

Al Nassr said Ronaldo signed a contract until 2025 that will earn him nearly 200 million dollars a year.
