Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah has set a new record as the highest-ever African goal scorer in the UEFA Champions League, tallying an impressive 45 goals.

The Egyptian forward reached this historic milestone during Liverpool’s match against Bologna on September 2, where he found the back of the net in the 75th minute, helping secure a vital victory for his team.

Salah’s landmark goal not only solidified his position as the top African scorer in Champions League history but also placed him ahead of notable legends like Ivory Coast’s Didier Drogba, who netted 44 goals, and Cameroon’s Samuel Eto’o, with 35 goals to his name.

This achievement is a testament to Salah’s exceptional talent and consistency in one of the most prestigious football competitions in the world.

In addition to this significant accomplishment, Salah has made further history by becoming the first Liverpool player to score in five consecutive Champions League matches at Anfield, showcasing his ability to perform on the grandest stage.

Furthermore, he has distinguished himself as the first player to both score and assist in nine Champions League games for an English club, highlighting his all-around contribution to the team’s success.

Salah’s record-breaking performances continue to elevate his status not only as a key player for Liverpool but also as a role model for aspiring footballers across Africa and beyond.

Mohamed Salah joined Liverpool on June 22, 2017, from AS Roma for a reported fee of around £36.9 million, which was a club record at the time.
