Former Real Madrid talisman and all-time scorer, Cristiano Ronaldo has set a new record for the highest number of assists in the history of the European Championship.
In Portugal’s 3-0 victory against Turkey in Group F, Ronaldo selflessly provided an assist to Bruno Fernandes for their third goal.
Despite having the opportunity to score himself, Ronaldo chose to be a provider for his former teammate from Manchester United.
This decision has made him a historical figure, as he now holds the record for the most assists in the Euros since 1968, with a total of seven.
This achievement adds to his already impressive record of scoring the most goals in the history of the competition, with 14 goals across six tournaments.
Ronaldo’s dominance extends beyond the European Championship, as he also holds the same records in the Champions League. He has scored 140 goals and provided 42 assists in the prestigious tournament.

Although he is yet to score in Euro 2024, his recent contributions could greatly contribute to guiding his country towards their second title.
Portugal’s victory against Turkey saw Bernardo Silva open the scoring, followed by an unfortunate own-goal from Samet Akaydin, giving Portugal a 2-0 lead at halftime.
Fernandes then secured the win with a goal assisted by Ronaldo, sealing their second victory in the group stage.
Portugal showcased an improved performance against Turkey, especially after their narrow 2-1 victory against the Czech Republic earlier in the week.
With their advancement to the knockout stages of the competition confirmed, Portugal’s final Group F match will be against Georgia on Wednesday.
