The Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) has selected media personality Kwabena Agyeman Appiah Kubi, widely known as Roman Fada, as its new flagbearer following the recent passing of its founder and former leader, Akua Donkor.
In an emergency meeting held in Kumasi, GFP executives reached this decision, an announcement captured in a video shared by blogger EDHUB.
An unidentified spokesperson for the party explained, “After careful and thorough deliberation, we have chosen Roman Fada to carry on Akua Donkor’s legacy. Akua Donkor herself saw something exceptional in Roman Fada, which is why she had earlier selected him as her running mate.”

He added that the media personality embodies the principles Akua Donkor championed and that his dedication aligns closely with the vision set by the GFP’s founder.
“Roman Fada doesn’t just represent our party’s ideals; he reflects Akua Donkor’s values and aspirations for Ghana,” the spokesperson emphasized. “This made him a natural choice as her successor, a decision wholeheartedly supported by our constituency, regional, and national executives.”
During the meeting, Roman Fada symbolically raised his hands, signifying his new role as the GFP’s flagbearer and the continuation of Akua Donkor’s legacy.
With his leadership, the party hopes to sustain the momentum established by its late founder and move forward into the future.
