The hip-hop community was dealt a heavy blow when news broke of the untimely passing of Rich Homie Quan on September 5, 2024.
Known for his charismatic presence and undeniable talent, the Atlanta rapper left an indelible mark on the music scene. Now, in a bittersweet moment for his fans, his first posthumous album, Forever Goin In, was officially released on October 4, a fitting tribute to the rapper’s legacy.
The album features over 30 new tracks, boasting an impressive roster of collaborations with some of today’s biggest names, including Skilla Baby, Lil Tjay, 2 Chainz, Plies, and Sukihana.
It’s a body of work that showcases Rich Homie Quan’s signature sound, blending soulful melodies with hard-hitting verses. His single “Song Cry,” which had dropped in late September, gave fans an emotional glimpse of the album before its full release.
In an Instagram post, the late rapper’s account shared a poignant detail about the album’s tracklist. “34 listed songs ironically that’s the age I…” read the caption, acknowledging the significance of the number—34, the age he would have been.
To honour his legacy further, the album also includes one extra bonus track as a “gift” to his devoted fans.
Rich Homie Quan’s death shocked the music world. He was found unresponsive at home by his girlfriend, Amber Williams, who quickly called 911.
Paramedics arrived and rushed him to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he was tragically pronounced dead.
According to the police report, the responding officer noted, “While on scene, I did not observe any foul play. Mr. Lamar did not appear to be alert, conscious, or breathing. Ms. Williams advised me that Mr. Lamar did not have any medical or underlying diseases.”
Following the tragic incident, the official cause of death was ruled as an accidental overdose.
A toxicology report revealed a lethal combination of fentanyl, alprazolam, codeine, and promethazine in his system, with THC also detected, though it was not among the substances that caused his death.
The report confirmed that there were no signs of physical trauma, further supporting the conclusion of an accidental overdose.
