Since news went viral that two of Michael Essien’s houses are up for following the ruling by an Accra High Court, social media has been flooded with a range of opinions.
The story went viral earlier this week when the Accra High Court Commercial Division reportedly issued an order for the sale of two mansions owned by the renowned Ghanaian football star.
According to the earlier publication shared by Dailyguidenetwork.com, the properties in question are situated at Stephen Quarshie Crescent, East Legon, House Number 9, and House Number 204/205, Trassaco (Phase 2) Adjiringano, all located in Accra.
The auctioneer, who wished to remain anonymous, was entrusted with the task of selling the properties and confirmed the order issued by the Deputy Sheriff of the High Court.
The auctioneer estimated that one of the properties is valued between $20 and $30 million. Although the specifics of the court proceedings were unclear, a report from Kickgh.com suggested that the former Chelsea star was grappling with financial difficulties, including unpaid loans.
Amidst the confusion surrounding the various opinions being shared about the financial situation of the former Chelsea player, Michael Essien, seasoned journalist Saddick Adams, also known as Sports Obama, has shed light on the matter.
According to Adams, Essien had purchased two properties through mortgage loans. One of these properties is valued at $20 million, while the other is worth $30 million.
Adams explained that Essien had been making regular payments towards the mortgage. However, at a certain point in his career, these payments no longer made financial sense to him, so he decided to stop making them.
As a result, the bank has taken possession of the property. Therefore, it is inaccurate to claim that Essien is broke, as this situation is solely related to the repossession of the building.
