Rapper Lil Baby has been released on bond in Las Vegas following his arrest on Monday morning for allegedly carrying a concealed weapon without a permit.
The 29-year-old artist, whose real name is Dominique Armani Jones and who hails from Atlanta, was apprehended on suspicion of this offence while on the northern section of the Las Vegas Strip, as reported by The Associated Press.
However, his legal team issued a statement to the Los Angeles Times expressing confusion over the arrest, noting that Jones possesses a valid permit for concealed carry in his home state.
“[Jones has] a valid Georgia Carrying a Concealed Weapon (CCW) Permit,” attorneys Drew Findling and David Chesnoff said in their statement to the Times. “On his behalf, we are actively investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding his arrest in Las Vegas.”
Nevada is not included in the list of states recognized by the Georgia Attorney General for its weapons carry license.
According to court records from Clark County, no charges have been brought against Jones, who was released from custody following an initial court appearance and the posting of a $5,000 bond, as reported by the AP.
He is scheduled to appear in Clark County court on October 1. The Hollywood Reporter has submitted records requests to both the Las Vegas Police and Clark County courts but has not yet received a response.
Lil Baby was in Las Vegas to perform at the birthday celebration for Los Angeles Clippers star James Harden on Sunday night, with clips on TikTok showcasing the rap artist at the event.
