Ghanaian actor Prince David Osei has been heavily criticized on social media following John Dramani Mahama’s and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) resounding victory in the recently concluded elections.
The actor, a known supporter of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), stirred controversy with his comments after the party’s defeat.

Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) account, Osei expressed optimism despite the loss, stating his pride in the NPP’s efforts and calling for “friendly banter and trolling” in the aftermath of the elections.
However, his comments did not sit well with a large section of the public, who accused him of dismissing the gravity of the NPP’s electoral defeat.
Social media users unleashed a wave of backlash, accusing the actor of insensitivity and opportunism.
Some critics alleged that Osei’s support for the NPP was driven by personal gain rather than genuine political conviction. They further claimed that his association with the ruling party endorsed corruption and poor governance.
One particularly scathing critique targeted Osei’s call for friendly exchanges, with some users asserting that their disdain for him and the NPP was rooted in “hate and disgust” rather than jest.

They accused him of prioritizing a political party over the nation’s interests, branding him a “traitor.”
Others sarcastically suggested that he use the NPP’s defeat as inspiration for a film to save his acting career, ending their comments with dismissive tones.
