The dust is settling on Ghana’s December 7, 2024, elections, and the ripple effects are being felt across the country and beyond.
As the nation awaits official confirmation from the Electoral Commission, one undeniable truth has emerged—John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has captured the spotlight with a commanding lead over the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Among the first public figures to react was actor Prince David Osei, a vocal supporter of the NPP. In a social media post that balanced sportsmanship and determination, the actor extended his congratulations to Mahama and the NDC.
“What a fascinating phenomenon we’ve just witnessed! Ghana has spoken, and the results were not quite what we all anticipated. I am beyond proud of myself, my team, and our collective efforts; we gave it our all and fought a vigorous battle,” he wrote.
Osei, known for his unwavering support of the NPP, didn’t shy away from rallying his party to prepare for the future.
“A hearty congratulations to our worthy rivals, NDC. Now, let the friendly banter and trolling commence! We don’t give up. We shall bounce back stronger and more resilient in the next four years.”
This election has been a captivating chapter in Ghana’s political history. Preliminary results show Mahama securing approximately 52.7% of the votes, a clear lead over Bawumia, who trails with 40.1%.
The margin signals a shift in Ghana’s political landscape and sets the stage for introspection within the NPP as they strategize for a comeback.
