In an interview with Andy Dosty on Hitz FM, gospel musician Perez Musik opened up about a fundamental part of his artistry: using the Ga language.
Perez reflected on how Ga is not just a language but a reflection of who he is.
“I find it essential to use Ga because it’s a part of who I am,” Perez shared during his chat with Andy Dosty.
“While my popular tracks are primarily in Ga, I also sprinkle in English. This blend helps me reach a wider audience while staying true to my roots.”

It’s a delicate balance—staying authentic to your heritage while appealing to a broader spectrum. Ghana, with its rich tapestry of languages, sees Twi dominating many spheres of life, especially music.
This fact wasn’t lost on Andy Dosty, who asked a question many fans might have on their minds:
“Given that Twi is the most widely spoken language in Ghana, do fans express concerns about your use of Ga? Is it a barrier for them?”
Perez paused thoughtfully, his sincerity shining through. “I have created songs in Twi, but I was discouraged by some feedback about my strong Ga accent in those tracks. So, I decided to focus more on Ga because I can convey my message better in my native language.”
The conversation took a deeper turn when Andy Dosty, ever the perceptive interviewer, probed further, asking whether Perez sought help from Twi speakers before releasing his songs in that language. Perez, confident in his abilities, responded: “I’d say my songwriting skills in Twi are strong. The real challenge for me is how I deliver those lyrics vocally.”
It was a candid admission. For many artists, language is both a tool and a barrier. Perez, however, is fortunate to have a supportive team.
“Luckily, my entire team speaks Akan, which helps me with the proper syntax and grammar. They ensure that the lyrics are correct, so I can focus on my performance,” he explained, underlining the collaborative effort behind his music.
But what truly stood out in the interview was Perez’s unwavering commitment to creating an emotional connection with his fans.
“I want my fans to feel my passion and my story,” he said, his voice filled with conviction. “Using Ga allows me to do that. It’s about creating a genuine connection.”
