Pastor Love Hammond has been granted bail by the Accra High Court as he awaits the outcome of an appeal.
According to a Ghanaweb report, the bail, set at GH¢2 million, was approved by Justice Kizita Naa Koowah Quarshie on Friday, November 15, 2024, following a motion filed by his lawyer, Mr. Kwame Yeboah. The court ruled that the substantial amount must be secured with landed property.
In addition to this financial requirement, Pastor Love was ordered to surrender his passport to the Court Registry, ensuring its validity beyond November 2025, and report to the police every Tuesday.
These conditions are part of efforts to ensure compliance with the ongoing legal process. Despite the court’s decision, reports from Angel FM indicate that Pastor Love remains in custody at Nsawam Prison, as he has yet to meet the stringent bail requirements.
The case has sparked widespread discussion, with many expressing concerns about the challenges posed by such high bail amounts.
A legal expert observed that while the conditions aim to guarantee accountability, they also highlight disparities in accessing justice for individuals with limited resources.
Supporters of Pastor Love have also raised questions about the fairness of the terms, describing them as overly burdensome.
