Pastor Love, former husband of gospel musician Obaapa Christy, has officially filed an appeal after being sentenced to four years in prison.
The Accra High Court has confirmed that he is seeking bail to attend the appeal hearings in person, a request that will be decided on Friday, November 15, 2024.
In a statement from his legal team, Pastor Love’s lawyers explained that he wishes to be present for his appeal proceedings outside the confines of prison. “Pastor Love needs to attend the proceedings in person so that he can fully engage with his legal defence,” the statement read.
The legal saga began in 2017 when Pastor Love was accused of selling a friend’s car without accounting for the proceeds. After a lengthy trial, he was found guilty of theft, dishonesty, and appropriation. His sentencing in October 2024 followed years of legal battles and public scrutiny.

Pastor Love’s conviction has sparked a mixed response from the public. While some of his followers continue to show support, arguing that the punishment was too severe, others believe the sentence sends a necessary message about accountability.
“We are praying for Pastor Love, but we also believe that no one should be exempt from the consequences of their actions,” one legal analyst commented.
Despite the controversy, Pastor Love remains hopeful that the appeal will result in a fair outcome. “I trust that the truth will prevail,” he said in a statement shared with his supporters. His legal team has expressed confidence that they can present new arguments that will allow for a reconsideration of his case.
