Blakk Rasta has called for a cultural and economic shift in Ghana’s leadership, advocating for a total rejection of foreign-made clothing and beverages in government institutions.
Speaking on his Urban Blend show on 3News monitored by Ghanastreetjournal, he made a bold demand for Ghana’s Parliament to ban suits and switch exclusively to African wear.
“Parliament must stop wearing suits in Parliament,” he declared. “Even if it is a suit, it must be tailored right here in Ghana.”
According to him, African leaders and lawmakers must represent their people authentically, not just in words but in appearance. He questioned why Ghanaian leaders continue to dress in Western attire while complaining about the collapse of the country’s textile industry.

“Every now and then, retrenchments all over the place, yet we are not supporting our own fabrics. Imagine President Mahama wearing only African prints for all four years—do you know how many people would love to wear that?” he asked.
Blakk Rasta cited examples from other African countries where leaders have embraced traditional attire, such as Nigeria and Burkina Faso. He recalled how Zambia’s former president, Kenneth Kaunda, popularized a particular style of suit, which was later named after him.
“Enomah used to wear that suit too, but we were not quick enough to call it an Enomah suit. They called it the Kaunda suit. It’s a trademark,” he said.
