Benjamin Willie Graham, the Media Attaché of Team Ghana at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, announced that Ghana’s 4×100 team ranks seventh in the world, indicating a strong possibility of success in the upcoming semi-finals scheduled for August 8th.
Graham also commended Abdul-Rasheed Saminu’s outstanding performance in the Men’s 100 Metres event, citing it as a source of motivation for Ghana’s upcoming involvement in the 4×100 Metre Relays.
Ghana’s relay team, consisting of Benjamin Azamati, Joseph Paul Amoah, Isaac Botsio, and Ibrahim Fuseini, will compete in the Relay Heats on August 8 with hopes of securing a spot in the final and contending for a medal at the Paris Games.
Despite finishing fifth in Heat 3 of the Men’s 100 Metre semifinals with a time of 10.05 seconds, Saminu’s debut Olympic performance was highlighted by Graham as a source of motivation for the relay team.
“Coming into this competition, Saminu was the fastest athlete in the Ghanaian team with 10.02 (seconds) so obviously so he was top ranked or top rated by World Athletics. Now the 4×100 Team is also top rated at seventh in the world as well.”
“Basically I will say that, it’s a morale boosting performance. I’ve heard Saminu saying that Ghanaians should expect an explosive run from the 4×100 Metres Team.”
