Paris 2024: Ghana’s 4×100m relay team disqualified

Ghanaian fans experienced significant disappointment as they closely followed their athletes’ performances at the ongoing Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

This disappointment stemmed from the disqualification of Ghana’s 4×100m relay team due to problems with baton exchanges that breached competition regulations.

The team, consisting of Abdul Rasheed Saminu, Benjamin Azamati, Ibrahim Fuseini, and Joseph Paul Amoah, recorded a time of 38.62 seconds in Heat 2, marking their slowest performance in recent years, especially when compared to their previous times of 38.07, 38.08, and 38.29 seconds.

China claimed victory with a time of 38.24 seconds, followed by France at 38.34 seconds and Canada at 38.39 seconds, all securing their places in the final.

This unfortunate situation is reminiscent of the previous Olympic Games four years ago, where the team Ghana faced similar baton exchange issues.
