Otto Addo Set For Sensational Ghana Return

A report has surfaced in the media space, suggesting that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) is on the verge of announcing Otto Addo as the new coach for the Black Stars this week.

The German-based trainer has reportedly been offered a long-term contract to spearhead Ghana’s new football project, taking over from Chris Hughton, who initially served as a technical advisor before assuming the head coach position after the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

If Addo is indeed appointed, his first assignment will be to guide the Black Stars in an international friendly against Uganda and Nigeria, which will take place in Morocco this month.

This crucial matches will serve as an opportunity for the team to test their skills against formidable opponents and assess their preparedness for upcoming competitions.

Otto Addo stepped down from his position as the head coach of Ghana’s national team following their elimination at the group stage of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. During a press conference, he informed the Ghanaian public that he chose to continue his role as a scout trainer with Dortmund.

“I said it before when I started as an assistant coach (of the Black Stars) last year in October,” Addo said.

“It was clear to me that, I will stop after the World Cup. At the moment, me and my family, we see our future in Germany and I like my role in Dortmund and we are very happy there”.

Addo, a former winger of German club Borussia Dortmund, took on the role of coach for the Black Stars in early February.

He was brought in to replace Milovan Rajevac, who was dismissed following Ghana’s disappointing performance at the 33rd edition of the Afcon in Cameroon. Despite being placed in Group C alongside Morocco, Gabon, and Comoros, Ghana failed to advance beyond the group stage, finishing fourth with just one point.
