Otto Addo And Kwasi Appiah’s Clash Will Be Epic- Laryea Kingston

Ghana’s U-17 team’s ex-coach, Laryea Kingston, is eagerly anticipating the potential clash of Kwasi Appiah and Otto Addo in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.

Ghana is placed in Group F with Sudan, Angola, and Niger. Sudan’s coach is Ghana’s Kwasi Appiah, who has previously managed the black stars as an assistant and head coach.

This familiarity with the Ghanaian team sets the stage for an exciting showdown between the two teams. Laryea Kingston is confident that Kwesi Appiah will hold an advantage when Sudan meets Ghana in the qualifiers.

“Kwesi Appiah is a Ghanaian and he knows how we approach games. He knows a lot of positives about Ghanaians and our mindset, so I think it’s going to be very difficult for us. Kwesi Appiah will have an advantage as he knows us more than Otto will know the Sudanese players.”

Appiah’s achievement in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers with Sudan further reinforces Kingston’s argument. Sudan is currently leading Group B with 10 points from four matches.

“If I am in Kwesi Appiah’s shoes now, it will be a game I will be looking forward to.

“There are so many things I will have to prove and show that I still have what it takes to lead this country. It is going to be one of the best games in Otto’s time at the Black Stars, Laryea told 3Sports in an interview.

The preliminary rounds are set to kick off in September 2024 and wrap up in November 2024.

The top two teams from every group will progress to the AFCON finals in Morocco, which are scheduled to take place from December 2025 to January 2026.
