Sports and Recreation Minister, Kofi Iddie Adams, has affirmed that the Ministry of Sports will not be exempt from scrutiny under the ongoing Operation Recover All Loots and Operation Prevent Asset Losses (OPAL).
Speaking during the sidelines of the 2025 Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) Elections on January 23, Adams emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring accountability across all sectors, including sports.
“ORAL, OPAL operates in every facet of the country. Once we have any information that needs to be looked into, everything will be looked into.
Sports is part of the activities that we do in this country, and no activity in this country is off the radar of checking for the right things to be done, so we cannot exclude anything. Nothing is excluded,” he stated.
The Minister’s comments come as OPAL, a government initiative aimed at recovering misappropriated state assets and preventing further losses, gains traction.
The operation has sparked widespread conversations about transparency and accountability, with many Ghanaians lauding its scope and inclusivity.
Adams’ remarks highlight the sports sector’s inclusion in the operation, a move many see as crucial in addressing issues that have plagued Ghana’s sports administration.
From alleged mismanagement of funds to questionable procurement practices, the sector has not been without its share of controversy in recent years.
