Ghana Premier League side Nsoatreman FC has officially pulled out of the ongoing 2024/25 season, citing security concerns that put their players, officials, and fans at risk.
The club’s decision follows recent violent incidents in the league, particularly their game against Asante Kotoko, where a tragic fan stabbing incident raised serious safety questions.
In a statement, Nsoatreman FC indicated that they “can no longer guarantee the safety of our players and officials in the current environment.”
This withdrawal is expected to have significant implications on the league, with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) now facing the challenge of restructuring fixtures and addressing the growing concerns surrounding security at match venues.
If the GFA accepts Nsoatreman’s decision, the league could continue with 17 teams, potentially impacting the relegation battle and overall competition dynamics.
The club’s exit also brings renewed attention to the need for improved security protocols within Ghanaian football, as stakeholders continue to call for stricter measures to prevent future violence at stadiums.
The GFA is yet to officially comment on Nsoatreman FC’s withdrawal.
