Nsoatreman FC’s journey in the CAF Confederation Cup came to a disappointing end following a 1-0 loss to Algerian side CS Constantine in the second leg of their second-round matchup on Saturday evening.
This defeat marked a 3-0 aggregate loss for the Ghanaian club, which had previously succumbed to a 2-0 defeat in the first leg held in Accra.
In the second leg at Stade Mohamed-Hamlaoui, Nsoatreman struggled to capitalize on scoring opportunities, which ultimately led to their elimination.
Just 19 minutes into the match, Zakaria Benchaa scored the only goal, giving CS Constantine an early advantage that they would maintain throughout the game.
The Algerian team demonstrated solid defensive play, limiting Nsoatreman’s chances and preventing them from mounting a comeback.
Despite their best efforts, Nsoatreman FC found it challenging to penetrate Constantine’s well-organized defence, leading to a frustrating conclusion to their first-ever campaign in African club football.
The defeat highlights the steep competition in continental tournaments, as the club aims to gain more experience on this stage.
With their aspirations of progressing to the group stage dashed, Nsoatreman FC will now shift their focus back to domestic competitions.
They are determined to defend their FA Cup title and contend for the Ghana Premier League championship, hoping to secure another chance for continental competition in the future.
The club’s resilience and commitment to improving will be crucial as they regroup for the challenges ahead.
