Ghanaian actor and comedian Agya Koo dispelled rumours of an ongoing rift with fellow actor and comedian Kwadwo Nkansah, known as Lilwin.
The two, who have long been fixtures in the Ghanaian entertainment industry, have been subject to rumours of competition and alleged tension.
However, Agya Koo’s recent statements give a rare insight into their relationship, challenging the public perception of rivalry and underscoring a spirit of camaraderie.

Speaking openly, Agya Koo compared his dynamic with Lilwin to some of the most well-known, yet largely unsubstantiated, celebrity rivalries in Ghana’s entertainment history.
“It is just like how people said Anthony Yeboah and Abedi Pele are at loggerheads, and Daddy Lumba and Nana Acheampong are also beefing,” he remarked, invoking names that evoke nostalgia for legendary Ghanaian footballers and musicians.
These comparisons, rooted in Ghanaian culture, shed light on the inclination of fans and media to construct narratives of rivalry between popular figures.
Agya Koo recounted his role in helping Lilwin find a platform in the industry, reflecting a sense of pride rather than competition. “I was on set when they brought Kwadwo, indicating that he is funny and could grow into a big star.

“I asked them to bring him because we had an agenda to overtake the Nigerians, so if there was someone good, it was best they brought him,” he explained.
This statement hints at the collective ambition within Ghana’s film and comedy scenes to compete internationally, particularly with neighbouring Nigeria, known for its vast Nollywood industry.
