Ghanaian actor and comedian Agya Koo has expressed his strong opinions about the National Democratic Congress (NDC), accusing the party of seeking political power to “create, loot, and share.”
His comments have sparked significant discussion, particularly regarding the NDC’s stance on the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy.

Agya Koo, whose real name is Kofi Adu, is a celebrated Ghanaian entertainment industry figure known for his roles in numerous Kumawood films.
Over the years, he has become a household name, beloved for his comedic talent and charismatic performances. However, his influence extends beyond the screen, as he has also been vocal about his political views.
In a recent statement, Agya Koo criticized the NDC for their opposition to the Free SHS policy, a flagship initiative of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. “The NDC said if they had two million, they would not invest it in Free SHS.
However, they did not provide us with any alternative; an indication that they are just into steam from the people and not provide any policy alternative,” he remarked.
Agya Koo’s comments highlight his belief that the NDC lacks a viable plan for education, which sharply contrasts with the NPP’s efforts.
The Free SHS policy, introduced by the NPP, aims to provide free secondary education to all Ghanaian students, lifting financial burdens from families and increasing access to education.
Agya Koo praised the current administration for this initiative, noting that it has ensured that children across Ghana have the opportunity to receive an education.

He drew a comparison to Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana’s first president, who was only able to provide free education in the northern regions despite having significant resources. Agya Koo’s political journey has seen him shift his support from the NDC to the NPP.
Initially, he was perceived to be aligned with the NDC, but over time, he became a staunch supporter of the NPP.
His endorsement of the NPP has been evident in his public appearances and statements, where he has consistently praised the party’s policies and leadership.
