My Electricity Bill Has Jumped From GH¢20,000 To Over GH¢200,000- Businessman Tells Bawumia During Kumasi Tour

A Kumasi-based entrepreneur has conveyed the economic challenges facing the country to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia during his visit to the Ashanti Region ahead of the upcoming presidential elections in December.

The man directly informed the NPP presidential nominee about the difficult times, citing the exorbitant electricity bills he is required to pay for his business.

He disclosed that his expenses have surged from GH¢20,000 to more than GH¢200,000, significantly impacting his business’s profitability.

In his remarks delivered in Twi, he emphasized the unsustainable nature of these expenses and emphasized the necessity for governmental assistance to support businesses.

Sharing his predicament, the man said;

“I am in the mineral water production business, and since 2016, the equipment I bought has been problematic. Dr. Bawumia, my electricity bills have become unbearable, jumping from GH¢20,000 to about GH¢200,000.

“By the end of production, my earnings are wiped out by electricity costs. We need a government that will support businesses in the Ashanti region if you become president,” he urged.
