More ‘Wahala’ For Dampare As 40 Police Chief Inspectors Sue Him

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) is being sued by forty Police Chief Inspectors in the Ghana Police Service for what they claim is the unjustified denial of their promotion according to a report shared by Graphic Online.

The police officers allege in a petition filed with the High Court in Kumasi that they have been denied opportunities for promotion as a result of the service’s decision to provide special amnesty to police personnel who had earned degrees prior to 2020 after they had joined the service.

They claim that the police administration promoted their junior colleagues under the same amnesty, despite the fact that they had been on the force for 25 to 30 years, but refused to admit them to the Police Academy to allow their promotions to Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP).

Therefore, the 40 plaintiffs are pleading with the court to force the IGP and the other defendants to raise their ranks, give them direct access to the Police Academy, and further refund their lost income as a result of their failure to receive promotions.
