Leaked Tape: Watch As Dampare Interacts With George Asare During Break In Committee’s Hearings

Despite the tension between them and the shocking revelations made by Superintendent George Asare against him, George Akuffo Dampare, the Inspector General of Police is seen in a video attached herein joking with Supt Asare during recess in the hearing of Tuesday, September 12, 2023.

The surprising development was captured on tape by TV3, which they shared on Twitter. One could see the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dampare flashing some smiles while joking with his adversary, Supt George Asare, to the shock of Ghanaians.

Recall that in one of the sequels to this unending drama, Superintendent George Asare of the Ghana Police Service was recorded engaging in discussions with former Northern Regional chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Chief Bugri Naabu, regarding the replacement of the current Inspector-General of Police.

Supt Asare provided extensive testimony on Monday to the parliamentary committee investigating the tape and related national security concerns. Following his testimony, a video was released capturing Asare and Naabu discussing a variety of topics, including the urgent need to replace IGP George Akuffo Dampare and the role of the police in the opposition National Democratic Congress’s electoral victory, with Asare suggesting that the police leadership had sympathies for the NDC.

He was discussing a wide range of issues with Bugri Naabu including the need for the IGP George Akuffo Dampare to be replaced as quickly as possible. He also spoke about the role of the police in the electoral victory of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) alluding to the fact that the top brass in the police had those with sympathies for the NDC.

“He didn’t come there,” he said of one Commissioner of Police (COP), “So, you expect him to come there before you know that he is NDC, he sent them there…that man is a strong NDC man, the Awuni I told you about,” he told his guest.

“Who is Awuni?” Bugri Naabu asked, to which Asare replied: “Awuni is there, he is one of the commissioners.”
