Floyd Mayweather Jr recently revealed his all-time greatest boxer in a video with MailOnline, participating in the ‘winner stays on’ trend.
His choices in the heavyweight division have caused some controversy, as he selected Frank Bruno over Deontay Wilder, followed by Tyson over Bruno, and then Vitali Klitschko over Tyson.
Mayweather then chose Joshua over Klitschko, Joe Frazier over AJ, and Wladimir Klitschko over Frazier. He also backed Tyson Fury over the younger Klitschko brother and selected Lennox Lewis over the Gypsy King.
In a final controversial decision, Mayweather chose Lewis over Muhammad Ali. This list is sure to ignite debate among boxing fans.
Mayweather has been recognized with numerous prestigious awards and accolades throughout his career.
He was named “Fighter of the Decade” for the 2010s by the Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA), won The Ring magazine’s Fighter of the Year award twice (in 1998 and 2007), received the BWAA Fighter of the Year award three times (in 2007, 2013, and 2015), and was honoured with the Best Fighter ESPY Award six times (from 2007 to 2010, and then from 2012 to 2014).
In addition, in 2016, ESPN ranked him as the greatest boxer, pound for pound, of the last 25 years. As of May 2023, BoxRec ranks him as the second-greatest boxer of all time, pound for pound.
Mayweather has consistently been recognized as the best pound-for-pound boxer in the world by various sporting news and boxing websites, including The Ring, Sports Illustrated, ESPN, BoxRec, Fox Sports, and Yahoo! Sports, achieving this title twice within ten years.
