Jordan Ayew may be heading to Crystal Palace as Leicester City Football Club has ramped up their pursuit of him.
As reported by Citi Sports, the Foxes have made a competitive offer to attract Ayew as the transfer window nears its conclusion. Leicester, known for their remarkable title win in the 2015-16 season, has proposed a £4 million bid for the former Aston Villa player.
However, English journalist Alan Nixon indicates that Leicester City has come back with an enhanced offer of £6 million.
The connection between Leicester manager Steve Cooper and Ayew, stemming from their time together at Swansea City, is thought to be a significant factor in the Foxes’ interest in the Ghanaian forward.
With the 2024-2025 season approaching, Leicester City has seen Nigeria striker Kelechi Iheanacho depart for Sevilla, while Patson Daka is currently sidelined due to injury.
Although Ayew played 20 minutes in Crystal Palace’s 2-1 defeat to Brentford in the season opener, he finds himself lower in the pecking order among Palace’s forwards, competing with players like Ismaila Sarr, Eberechi Eze, and Matheus Franca.
Since joining Crystal Palace on loan from Swansea in 2018, Ayew has made 212 appearances and scored 23 goals. He was a second-half substitute during Palace’s recent loss to Brentford.
Prior to his time at Palace, Ayew played for Aston Villa, having joined them in 2015 before transferring to Swansea two years later.
